Lots to talk about…

I have just completed the final and fifth day of photography at Search Press Publishers for the RSN Appliqué book. The publishers commented on how fresh and contemporary all my work is. It was a lot of fun styling the shoots with the design team, editor and photographer. Now all the text (all 57 A4 pages) has been submitted I am excitedly waiting for my editor to pull it all together which is a mammoth task, then for the proof reader to come back to me. Students have been very happy for me to share their beautiful work in my book so thank you if you are one of them. Along with working with the Royal School of Needlework I have also been working in conjunction with the Embroiderer’s Guild and many museums and establishments such as the Royal Opera House and the D- Day Museum which house some fantastic examples of Appliqué commissions completed by the RSN Studio.

Applique Book Pre-Purchase

My book will be available on the 14th of April and if you would like to purchase a copy its already available on pre-purchase through the Embroiderer’s Guild at the link below.
Pre – Purchase of my Applique Book
There will be a book launch in Spring next year – hopefully, one near to home and one up in the big smoke. Details to follow in the next few months.

I taught a Stumpwork and Silkshaing class at the RSN and one of my students Carolyn Gibbs took this work to a new level and created an Appliqué Garden for the butterfly.

RSN Certificate at Hampton Court

Over the “summer” Becky Hogg https://beckyhogg.com and I taught the Goldwork Intensive at the Royal School of Needlework. We had a superb two weeks and were both happily exhausted as were the students after the intensive session. The students achievement’s over the summer has been phenomenal given the time pressures they had to work with. Some gorgeous images below of the happy gaggle and their achievements below…

The Education office at the RSN has now moved into smashing new apartments over the summer to accommodate the high volume of student interest in much larger rooms. We have a much larger office with even better views over the Long Water at Hampton Court.

Godalming Classes
New and exciting links have been made with an Upholster in Godalming called Sarah Dix who runs studio 22. Studio 22 is an established creative workspace in the heart of Godalming offering traditional upholstery courses and unique craft workshops. Sarah Louise Dix, designer, maker and traditional upholsterer set up Studio 22 in October 2014. Sarah and I will be working together to run classes teaching traditional skills. Dates for all 2016 embroidery classes will be published in October.

On the 5th and 6th of December the studio will be open in conjunction with notongodalminghighstreet.com which is a new creative group set up to enable local people to join together to sell their uniquely crafted products or services in an alternative way, away from the high street while complementing what is currently on offer in Godalming town. Studio 22 is the venue and notongodalminghighstreet.com the website (to be published soon).

Please do come and visit us for pre-Christmas purchases and to see demonstrations of various crafts including upholstery and hand Embroidery. Please note that I am teaching in Rugby on the 5th of December so all Embroidery Demonstrations will take place on Sunday the 6th of December. We would love to see you all there!
