Changing Seasons

The leaves are beginning to fall and summer seems to be over. This is a piece by Jane Harris who is one of my private students. This should get you in the mood for the beginning of cooler climates…

Jane’s stunning work features metal thread work, surface stitch, silkshading, stumpwork and leatherwork.

Over the summer Becky Hogg and I taught the Summer Intensive Certificate Goldwork Course at the Royal School of Needlework. We had many international students for two weeks of Goldwork. The two weeks were a lot of fun and the last week ended with beautiful completed work.

Since the publication of my book I have had received good reviews on Amazon and a glowing review from Mary Corbet’s Needle ‘n Thread for my book “RSN Appliqué Techniques,Projects and Pure Inspiration”. It means a lot to me that she has rated it so very highly and that all the hard work has been recognised. Since Mary’s recent blog post the book has moved up to 230 on USA Amazon which according to my editor at Search Press is quite something! I now have my pen poised ready to write another book proposal. 😉

I am teaching two classes at Hampton Court in the Art of Appliqué on the 18th of October and the 15th of November as part of their tour and taster session. The image of the piece I am teaching is of a dog walker in the rain.

Rich’s and my rather big personal news is that we are expecting a little one. Our due date is Christmas Day this year. I have been working on a paper pieced quilt for a boy and will also be making a crazy quilt in Liberty fabrics as we don’t know what flavor baby will arrive and are both very excited about the prospect of being parents. I will be taking the whole year Maternity from the 9th of December so won’t be back until the end of Jan 2018. I intend to stay in touch with you all and will be continuing to stitch during maternity…

Catch up with you all soon…
